2011 West Bridgford Indoor Veterans Tournament

• John Taylor strengthens case for GB selection
• Peter Whitehead, Ann Brown and Eddie Fox excel

The 6th West Bridgford LTA Grade 4 Indoor Veterans Tournament was held from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th January 2011, attracting a record number of entries from all parts of the country.

The events saw the highest standard to date with strong performances from local players in the men’s over 60 singles, where John Taylor beat the number 1 seed Alan Dalton from Yorkshire in the semi finals 6-3, 7-5, and the number 2 seed, a fellow West Bridgford club player, Eddie Fox 6-1, 6-1, in the final.

Last years winner of the men’s over 50 singles, Peter Whitehead narrowly lost in the semi finals to Neil Shorrock of Northants 6-0, 6-7, 10-6. In the ladies over 50 singles, last years winner Ann Brown lost in the final to Kim Reed from Sussex 6-3, 6-2, in a game of long exhausting rallies.

• Ladies over 50 Singles
  Kim Reed [ Sussex] beat Ann Brown 6-3, 6-2.
